Participation in Smart Cities Exhibition for SE Europe, 2019

Sofia, Bulgaria, 16-18 April 2019.
In Inter Expo Center held the traditional international exhibition "Smart Cities"
.

A wide range of state-of-the-art technologies and applications related to the construction and management of intelligent cities were presented in the days of the event:

    Energy efficiency;
    Sustainable development and mobility;
    Intelligent networks and cloud services;
    Information management systems;
    Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
    ICT in logistics and waste management;
    Information platforms and the Internet of Things (IoT);
    Intelligent planning, modeling and urban planning;
    ICT for social services, e-government, e-learning;
    Information and communication technologies (ICT) for smart cities.

The main focus of the exhibition was on systems related to environmental protection.
One of the most characteristic features of the city of Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria, is the mountain Vitosha, which naturally merges with the city. The mountain and the forest protect, enrich and enrich the ecosystem of Sofia Municipality in an incomparable way.

Without the forests of Vitosha Park, the city would be doomed,
but whether the citizens of Sofia and the guests of the city think about it.

This is the main reason why the members of NCITES for the second consecutive year presented the experience we have gained in building systems for early detection and prevention of forest fires, especially the ASPires-GEO system.

We also made numerous live demos.
We presented the possibilities of our intelligent observation point in Pirin Park, Bansko, Bulgaria.

A frequent topic in conversations with the visitors at the booth was the question: Is it possible to organize a system for monitoring and early prevention of forest fires on the territory of Vitosha Park using the ASPires-GEO system

More information on forest fire prevention and the pilot implementation of the ASPires-GEO system can be found on the project site – https://www.aspires.eu.

Meteorological measuring system ASPires-GEO

Meteorological measuring system ASPires-GEO

Provides measurement, accumulation, and publisher of data in a private cloud. Access to the system and data may be via a secure channel or through a public web site.

One or multiple measurement points may be included in the system.
Each of them can measure and accumulate data on: temperature, humidity, air pressure, barometric pressure, dew point, instantaneous and average wind speed, mean and main wind direction. If necessary, measur- ing sensors for rainfall and solar radiation (UV sensor and Lux sensor) can be added.

Building a secure private cloud provides:

  • High level of data protection;
  • Technology for free deployment and upgrade of the system;
  • Wide opportunities for integration and integration into other systems for specialized surveillance and prevention.

The proposed meteorological metering system can also provide a constant flow of information - 365x24 min.

The measurement data obtained can be used both for professional research analysis and to import accurate and up-to-date meteorological information into other specialized information systems. For example, in:

  • Fire Detection and Prevention System;
  • Agricultural information systems;
  • Tourist information systems;
  • Wind and solar park management systems;
  • Systems for protection against disasters and floods.

Seminar „Forest Fire Dectection and Prevention“

On November 9, 2018, in the mountain above Bansko, Bulgaria in the area of Chalin Valog, a demonstration experiment was carried out for the prevention of fires through early detection and notification of the presence of a fire.

The demonstration and experiments were carried out in cooperation with the invaluable support of the Bulgarian National Emergency Management Authority, the Fire Safety and Civil Protection General Directorate, of the Ministry of Interior of Bulgaria.

The aim of the seminar was to present the achievements of the ASPires project and to demonstrate live the practical possibilities of the early warning platform in the presence of forest fires.

Was simulated a burning fire by the burning of a straw.
After a few seconds the fire was recognized by the installed equipment. The system automatically alerts the presence of fire by SMS notification to the mobile phone numbers provided by the attendees.

"Careers 2018", October 23rd and 24th, Technical University of Sofia

"Careers 2018" - Career days at the Technical University of Sofia, 23 - 24 October 2018
An annual business and technology forum bringing together experts from the Technical University of Sofia, students, representatives of state institutions and business organizations.

The forum was opened with the positive words of Prof. Georgi Mihov, Rector of the Technical University of Sofia. Representatives of the Ministry of Education, the Employment Agency, the President of the Bulgarian Industrial Capital Association and other prominent representatives of the public life in Bulgaria spoke before the forum.

Within the event, business representatives have demonstrated many new technologies and technical systems.

The National Cluster for Intelligent Transport and Energy Systems presented the work and achievements of the ASPires project - Advanced Systems for Prevention and early detection on forest fires.

The high-tech nature of the project caused the attention of the guests and the stand of the NCITES team was visited by the rector of the Technical University and the President of the Association of Industrial Capital in Bulgaria.

Higher Education and Research in 21-st Centory

XVIth International Conference on Current Issues in Higher Education, Sozopol, Bulgaria on the 29.05 – 01.06.2018.
The organizer of the meeting is the Technical University of Sofia, English Language Faculty of Engineering.

Challenges in Higher Education and Research in 21-st Centory - are numerous and resource-intensive. - Human knowledge is constantly growing and expanding. With this, the need for high professional skills and competences is constantly growing. Education, particularly higher education, is becoming increasingly critical both for the individual and the business, as well as for humanity as a whole.

The aim of the conference is to provide an opportunity to exchange information and ideas for the development of higher education and scientific achievements as well as for fostering personal contacts and working together.

Benefits:

  • Cooperation and promotion of innovation.
  • Exchange of technologies for economic development and growth.
  • Improving the overall well-being of all citizens.

According to a detailed Eurostat analysis: „This has resulted in a growing number of employers seeking staff with the necessary capacities to manage complex information, think autonomously, be creative, use resources in a smart and efficient manner, as well as communicate effectively.“

English Language Faculty of Engineering (ELFE) was founded in 1992
The ELFE has a separate specialized library and laboratories, most of them located in the departments, that carry the teaching on the specific subject. The ELFE provides higher engineering education, recognized in the EU countries.

The ELFEs graduates are educationally prepared for Euro-Engineer status, which enables them to compete for a job and/or to continue their education in EU countries. The teaching quality assurance procedures introduced at ELFE contribute to the equalisation of the teaching standards at ELFE with the standards of the leading EU universities. These procedures enabled the next step in the international integration of ELFE and academic recognition of the courses and modules taught.
